WORK ART 2001 - Media All forms of creativity are fed from a source of strength. This is one of the reasons why the WORK ART 2001 prize is using this concept as its topic: "Kraft!Quelle! - the power source of creativity for objects, painting, drawing". This prize, donated by the Bosch Power Tools Division, is offered in the categories Art and Design. In both disciplines, the works are assessed by separate juries each consisting of three experts. WORK ART 2001 is already the fifth edition of this Bosch prize. WORK ART is intended to support young artists and designers who are still at the beginning of their careers. For this reason, the prize is aimed at students in the fields of art, design and graphics, as well as graduates of these departments who completed their studies no more than five years ago. This competition gives them a platform to show their works to an interested public. It is expected that 40 selected works - 20 from each category - will be presented in autumn in an exhibition at Stuttgart Airport. A catalogue will also be published. The total prize money is DM 40,000. The two winners in the categories of Art and Design can each expect a scholarship of DM 1,000 per month for the period of one year. The runners-up will each be rewarded with DM 5,000, and DM 3,000 will be awarded for each of the third places. The competition is divided into two phases. In the first phase, the candidates will present their ideas in an exposé - supplemented with sketches and/or photos. At the end of March, the two juries will select about 20 works from their respective areas. In the realisation phase, the candidates then have time until August 2001 to implement their ideas and to complete their works for the competition. Finally, the jurors will select the prizewinners in their respective categories. The members of the jury for Design will be Karl-Heinz Krug (form), Alexander von Vegesack (Vitra Design Museum) and Prof. Kurt Weidemann (typesetter). In the Art category, the jury will consist of Ruth Händler (art), Bohumila Milena Lamarova (Prague Museum) and Henk Visch (artist). The exhibition planned for the coming autumn in Stuttgart Airport will be supported by the Stuttgart Gallery. A presentation of the selected works is also planned in the Internet.
