WORK ART on the WEB How it all works The competition WORK ART on the WEB comprises two phases: In Phase 1, contestants submit their ideas and plans for a proposed internet site (description, layout, example webpages). The virtual exhibition should mirror the real exhibition. That means not only presenting the actual works of art and design, but also including photos of the artists themselves as well as their résumés. Contestants can obtain a sample of this data (photos and text) from info@workart.de or www.workart.de. An informal registration is required. The cut-off date for Phase 1 submissions is July 15th. An expert jury will thereafter select a shortlist. Phase 2 is the realisation stage. Shortlisted candidates are required to transform their ideas into fully-functioning websites. Nomination obligates participants to submit their completed sites by August 17th at the latest. Second-stage candidates will be supplied with all data and material from the real WORK ART exhibition – images for around 20 works of art and 20 works of design plus portraits and résumés. The jury will choose a winner plus two place-getters. Judges will be on the lookout for two aspects in particular: originality of concept and implementation of this concept in cyberspace. The three winning virtual galleries will go live on August 30th in conjunction with the opening of the conventional exhibition.
